A Custom Portrait is an ideal way to immortalize your four-footed or feathered friend.  Whether you're looking for a personalized gift, or wish to have a unique memento of the bond that you share with your special pet, you'll find that I have the ability to capture that "extra something" that makes each creature an individual.

Custom pieces start at $250 per head study for a 9x12 with a simple background (see below.) Large portraits are also available. Please contact Becky at luvscritrs@aol.com to obtain pricing and discuss your specific request.

25% Non-Refundable Fee

Commissioned pieces will be priced and scheduled based on the pictures provided, level of detail desired and current workload. Quotes are honored for 60 days from the date of issue. A commission will be accepted only after receiving the request in writing, along with a 25% non-refundable deposit unless otherwise specified. An unprotected image will be provided for your approval after receipt of full payment.

Art Takes Its Own Time

Although I will strive to complete your request for special occasion gifts, please keep in mind that my workload may be extreme during holiday seasons. Please allow plenty of time so that I may have the opportunity to pay attention to the minute details needed to make your portrait come to life.

Detailed Backgrounds

Detailed and elaborate backgrounds are possible but will result in additional fees. As my strength lies in accurate portrayal of the individual animal, I highly recommend that backgrounds be limited to simple themes.

Framing: Care and Feeding

It should be noted that a pastel or pencil portrait can be easily smeared, and while they will be sealed with fixative prior to shipment, these images must be handled with care. I recommend that you consult with a professional framer for advice on how best to protect your image from future fading. In addition, soft pastels are often attracted to Plexiglas and other substances, which could cause the image to become altered, so it is advisable to make sure that your artwork is framed appropriately.

Tips for capturing a photo for the basis for a commissioned portrait

  • Always remember, I enjoy painting and drawing in extreme detail, so the more detail you’re able to provide to me, the more accurate the portrait will be.
  • Try to provide a few snapshots that are taken in bright light, preferably daylight.
  • Choose a photo, or photo(s) which accurately depict your pet’s personality, and describe exactly what it is about that photo that makes your pet so recognizable and unique.
  • If the portrait matched the photo exactly, would you recognize your pet out of many of the same breed? Be careful to choose a photo that catches an angle, look or mannerism that is distinctly your best friend. Digital photos are best so that details can be detected through manipulation on the computer.
